Tally Marks

Today we were learning about tally marks! We started off by talking about what tally marks are, showing some examples, and then watching a video that taught us about tally marks. See the "Tally Mark Train" video below: 

Then, we went outside and worked with a partner or a group of 3 and made tally marks on a sticky note! 
To start, we drew a picture at the top of what we were tallying (for example: birds, flowers, worms, ants, etc.) 
Then, we worked as a group and counted how many we saw. Every time we saw whatever we were counting, we put a tally mark down. Look at our tally marks below!

As a fun activity, go outside with your child and practice tally marks! Ask your child to tally these ideas:
