Tuesday Belly Breaths

Every day after recess, we find our own space and listen to the calming music as we take belly breaths.

We take belly breaths to calm our minds. We sometimes use our sparkle jar to remind us that our thoughts are not always calm. If we are stressed, excited, nervous, angry, upset, or any emotion other than calm, our brains our not ready to learn. How do we get our brains ready to learn?

We take belly breaths!

This is a photo of our belly breath strategies on our board.

This is a photo of our CD player with our calming music and the sparkle jar we use.

I made some belly breath signs to help the children choose which belly breath they prefer. We practiced each of these in class, so the kids know what they all mean. I like these signs because they are very visual for young readers.

Take a look inside our classroom! The pictures below are examples of the belly breaths the kids are using in our classroom, daily!

Try to see if you can guess what belly breath strategy they are using!
