117 Days in School

Today is our 117th day of school! Every day we learn about ones, tens and hundreds blocks during our morning routine! We use our mimio and the Helping Hand runs through the morning routine with the class.

Today our Helping Hand added a ones block and correctly said, "one hundred seventeen!" Wow! Great work! We practice saying it just like that. We always make sure we don't use an "and" in the number. For example: one hundred and seventeen. I always remind the students by saying:

No "AND'S!"

In older grades, the students will learn that when we say "and" it means a decimal. For example: 120.49 would be pronounced: "one hundred twenty and forty nine (hundredths)."

Tonight, ask your child what number that is! Practice using "no and's" while they practice saying it!
